1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Related technologies — local storage and session storage — do a similar job using a different browser mechanism. We use both, and for simplicity we refer to all of them as "cookies" on this page. They let a site remember something between page loads: your consent decision, for example, or a layout preference.
We keep the list short and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Optional categories are never activated before you make a choice in the banner, and refusing them does not reduce access to any content on this site.
2. Cookies we use
| Name | Category | Purpose | Type & duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| bcv_cookie_consent | Essential | Records whether you accepted all, rejected non-essential, or saved custom preferences, so the banner does not reappear. | Local storage — persists until cleared | First party |
| bcv_session | Essential | Maintains page state and protects the enquiry form against automated submission abuse. | Cookie — session only | First party |
| bcv_csrf | Essential | Security token that validates form submissions came from this site. | Cookie — session only | First party |
| bcv_analytics_id | Analytics (optional) | Assigns a rotating, non-identifying reference so aggregate visit counts and popular guides can be measured. | Cookie — up to 12 months | Analytics processor |
| bcv_analytics_session | Analytics (optional) | Groups page views into one visit so entry and exit pages can be reported. | Cookie — 30 minutes | Analytics processor |
| bcv_pref_layout | Functional (optional) | Remembers interface choices such as your preferred reading width and last guide viewed. | Local storage — up to 6 months | First party |
| bcv_saved_route | Functional (optional) | Keeps a shortlist of guides you marked while planning, stored only on your device. | Local storage — up to 6 months | First party |
3. Changing your choice on this site
Your decision is stored in your browser under the key bcv_cookie_consent. To be asked again, clear site data for briskiocuriousvalt.com in your browser settings (see section 4) and reload any page — the banner will reappear with all three options: Accept All, Reject Non-Essential and Preferences. Using Preferences lets you enable analytics and functional categories independently and save the combination.
4. Browser-level opt-out instructions
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a specific site or for all sites. Blocking all cookies may break functionality on other websites, so a site-specific rule is usually better.
- Google Chrome (desktop): Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, and Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data to clear what is already stored. Site-specific control is available from the icon at the left of the address bar.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data, then "Manage Data" to remove entries for a single domain. Enhanced Tracking Protection offers Standard, Strict and Custom modes.
- Safari (macOS): Safari → Settings → Privacy, with "Manage Website Data" to remove a single site. On iOS and iPadOS: Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data, where you can add a block or allow rule per domain.
- Chrome or Firefox on Android: browser menu → Settings → Privacy and security, then Clear browsing data or Site settings.
You can also use your browser's private or incognito mode, which discards cookies when the window closes, and most browsers send a "Global Privacy Control" or "Do Not Track" signal that we honour as an opt-out of optional categories where it is present.
5. Third parties and analytics
Optional analytics cookies are set by a processor acting on our instructions under a data processing agreement, and the reporting we receive is aggregated. No advertising networks, social media pixels or data brokers operate on this site. External links to tourism boards and transport operators lead to sites that set their own cookies under their own policies — we have no control over those and recommend checking the policy of any site you visit.
6. Legal basis and updates
Essential cookies are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in delivering a secure, working website and are exempt from consent requirements under the EU ePrivacy framework as implemented in Spain. Analytics and functional cookies are set only with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by the methods above. For the wider picture — your access, deletion and objection rights, retention periods and processor categories — see the Privacy Policy, or write to [email protected].
If we add, remove or repurpose a cookie, this table and the revision date above will be updated, and where the change requires fresh consent the banner will be shown again.
